Biographical Information:

Dr. Johnson grew up in Hillsboro, IL, and graduated from Eastern Illinois University, then from the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.  He completed his family medicine residency in Carbondale, IL, and has practiced in Pike County since 1980, first in private and small group practice, and since 2008 as a member of Quincy Medical Group. He has been married for 42 years, and have five grown children.

  • Served on ISMS CME Accreditation Committee for 20 years, including five years as chair
  • Served as chair of the Accreditation Review Committee at ACCME for four years
  • Illinois Academy of Family Physicians - Board for 9 years; President; Board Chair for 2 years; Co-chair of Government Relations Committee
  • Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation - Medical Licensing Board for 13 years; Vice Chair and Chair for 4 years. Currently serving on the Medical Disciplinary Board
  • Illinois Department of Healthcare & Family Services, Office of the Inspector General - currently Chief Medical Consultant
  • Pike County Medical Society - Served as President, Secretary, and Delegate
  • Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield, Illinois - President of the Medical Staff
  • Recipient of the Rutledge W. Howard Meritorious Achievement Award (Individual) in CME from ACCME 2014
  • Recipient of the SIU Distinguished Alumnus Award for Service to Mankind in 2005
