Emergency Physician Elected President, Illinois State Medical Society

Oak Brook, IL - A Waukegan based board-certified internist, critical care and emergency medicine specialist, Scott Cooper, M.D., was inaugurated as President of the Illinois State Medical Society (ISMS) during its recent annual meeting here.  

Dr. Cooper has been a member of ISMS for over 20 years, serving most recently as President-elect and as a member of the Committee on CME Accreditation. Dr. Cooper also holds memberships with the American College of Emergency Physicians and the Illinois College of Emergency Physicians.

Dr. Cooper has represented the Lake County Medical Society (LCMS) on the ISMS Board of Trustees since 2011.  He served as LCMS president in 2004. 

Dr. Cooper is on staff with Vista Health System and Thorek Memorial Hospital. He is a clinical medicine instructor Dailat the University of Chicago.  He completed his undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis, MO, and obtained his medical degree at Loyola University in Maywood.  Dr. Cooper completed his residency at St. Joseph's Hospital in Chicago and critical care fellowship at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.  

Dr. Cooper will serve as ISMS President through April 2016. 



Founded in 1840, ISMS is a professional membership association representing Illinois physicians in all medical specialties, and their patients, statewide.
