    APNs Must Have Physician Oversight in the VA Health System

    The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) recently published a proposed rule that would give full practice authority to four categories of advanced practice nurses (APNs) in an effort to reduce wait times in the VA health system. The rule would allow APNs working as VA employees to provide services without the clinical oversight of a physician!

    ISMS has told the VA it's the wrong move. Now you can, too. Submit comments on the proposed rule by July 25.

    Take Note: Medicaid's Revalidation Deadline is August 31

    Before the summer gets away from you, please note that the deadline for individual physicians to revalidate their existing Medicaid enrollment data online is Aug. 31, 2016.

    If you miss the August 31 deadline, you may have to re-enroll and will likely experience payment delays.

    Physician Concerns About MACRA Must Be Addressed Before Final Rule is Released

    The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released a proposed rule to implement key provisions of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA). This legislation, which became law in April 2015, repealed the flawed sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula and replaced it with other payment options.

    Numerous practices responded to ISMS' recent request for feedback, which greatly assisted us in communicating our concerns to CMS regarding the MACRA proposed rule.
