  • Lay Midwives Want Licensure, APNs Pushing for Independent Practice

    Your ISMS legislative team is hard at work in Springfield, advocating against inappropriate scope-of-practice bills and supporting patient protections. But your help is needed!

    • Legislation to license undertrained midwives has again surfaced in Springfield, and must be stopped!
    • A bill has been introduced that would allow APNs to provide the same level of care as family physicians, pediatricians, obstetricians, and other specialists – completely independent from any physician collaboration! 
    • After clearing the House, the Network Adequacy and Transparency Act (NAT Act) is now under consideration in the Illinois Senate.
