  • Cash Starting to Flow to Illinois’ Unpaid Bills – But “Backlog” Still Alive and Well

If you treat Medicaid patients, and/or state government workers and retirees covered under the State Employees Group Insurance Program (SEGIP), there may be some relief in sight regarding Illinois' logjam of unpaid claims.

A $6 billion bond sale last month has been the impetus for the State of Illinois to start paying off part of its $16.7 billion heap of past-due bills.

While this is positive news, the state estimates that with these new payments the 25-month backlog for claims submitted in the SEGIP will now be reduced to 12 months.
