When considering whether to prescribe opioids, it is important for physicians to understand the risk management strategies needed to keep their patients safe.

This course focuses on the lifespan of prescribing opioid medications, starting with the assessment of your patient, discussing the treatment plan, initiating treatment and continuing to safely manage your patient.

Health care professionals are on the front lines of Illinois' opioid crisis. This course focuses on the steps physicians can take to help curb opioid addiction through use of the Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP).

SIU Medicine and the Illinois Department of Human Services (Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery) are offering FREE live educational programs in rural areas of Illinois related to opioid prescribing.
