More Needs to Be Done to Ensure Access to Mental Health Treatment!
Posted on: 7/3/2018

The physician and medical student members of ISMS are urging Gov. Rauner to sign Senate Bill 1707 to increase patients' access to mental health and substance use disorder treatment.

The bill would:

  • Remove administrative barriers, including step therapy and prior authorization requirements.
  • Help address the opioid crisis by expanding access to Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), which ISMS strongly supports.
  • Strengthen the state's ability to investigate potential parity violations, and make the findings of those investigations public.

Senate Bill 1707 passed with overwhelming bipartisan support in the Illinois General Assembly.
