An Order of Protection Regarding One of Your Patients Just Arrived. Now What?
Posted on: 12/13/2018

A section of the Code of Criminal Procedure, which addresses notice of orders of protection, now applies to situations in which a health care facility or doctor has received a certified copy of an order of protection regarding a patient.

If you receive such a notice, you must comply with the order of protection by restricting access to medical records of the protected patient, while also avoiding any harmful behavior by the alleged offender.

ISMS offers a newly updated medical legal guideline, Order of Protection,* outlining what doctors need to know about these legal orders.
