  • MORE Medicaid Patients with Hepatitis C Will Now Have Access to Life-Saving Medications

    The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) announced a rule change on Nov. 5, 2018:

    Direct Acting Antiviral (DAA) therapy that cures Hepatitis C will now be covered for ALL Illinois Medicaid patients, regardless of the patient’s stage of liver damage.

    That means about 7,000 more patients will have access to medications that cure Hep C under HFS’ new policy.

  • An Order of Protection Regarding One of Your Patients Just Arrived. Now What?

    A section of the Code of Criminal Procedure, which addresses notice of orders of protection, now applies to situations in which a health care facility or doctor has received a certified copy of an order of protection regarding a patient. 

    If you receive such a notice, you must comply with the order of protection by restricting access to medical records of the protected patient, while also avoiding any harmful behavior by the alleged offender.

  • Medical Corporation License Deadline Approaches; New Law Will Impact Licensure Cycle

    Medical corporations, limited liability companies, and professional service corporations in Illinois are required by law to be licensed by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). 

    Regardless of the date on which the license was issued, corporate licenses must adhere to IDFPR's license renewal schedule – which recently changed.
