While the flu season typically runs from November through March, the peak usually hits in January or February … and patients can still get the flu as late as May.

Therefore, it’s not too late for patients to be given the influenza vaccination.

Not all patients visit their doctor to receive their flu shot. But you can still help protect patients this flu season by encouraging them to print a free Illinois Rx Card.

By using the card, patients can obtain discounts on prescription medications at more than 68,000 participating pharmacies nationwide. If your practice doesn’t offer the influenza vaccination, your patients can also use the card to access discounts for the flu shot. Any ISMS member who is interested in ordering free cards for their clinic or hospital may email Stacy Miller, via email or by phone at 888-615-1988.

For more information, visit ISMS’ comprehensive Immunizations and Vaccinations web page.

If you have questions, contact the ISMS health policy team at 800-782-4767 ext. 1470 or send an email.
