The Top Fun Excursions in Peoria!

The 2019 ISMS Annual Meeting will be here before you know it – a weekend featuring networking, education, lively debates and fun in Peoria on April 5-7

This is a perfect chance to get away for a long weekend, so plan ahead and check out the activities and attractions Peoria has in store for you and your entire family.

Fortunately, we have an inside line to get you started. Mrs. Marilyn Leyland, a Peoria Medical Society Alliance member and the Alliance representative on the ISMS Council on Communications, offers these tips on what to see and do while you’re in town:

  • The Peoria Riverfront Museum deserves to top the list. It will be featuring two special exhibits during that time: Ten Medical Inventions That Changed the World and American Decoy: The Invention. Notable is the mass production of penicillin, which was developed at Peoria's USDA lab. As a major flyway, the Illinois River Valley was also known for decoy carvers, whose work is now prized. (On a related note for those interested in the shooting sports, the Peoria Skeet and Trap Club is one of the largest skeet and trap facilities in Illinois and is open to the public Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.)
  • East Peoria's Riverfront Walk – The trail on the river side of the ISMS Annual Meeting’s hotel, the Embassy Suites, heads south as far as Granite City and Logan's, but also extends north beyond the restaurants (Steak and Shake, Arby's) to go behind Wal-Mart and all the way to Bass Pro Shops, a particularly enticing environment.

Thanks again to Mrs. Leyland for the great Peoria round-up. We’ll see you there!

The ISMS Annual Meeting is FREE for members.
