Signing Death Certificates in Illinois Guideline

Many physicians are uncomfortable with signing death certificates.

For some, this may be due to concerns over potential litigation, while others may be uneasy stating a cause of death when the patient died outside of their presence.

Yet when a patient passes away, the physician who was in charge of the patient's care (for the illness or condition that caused the death) must complete and sign a medical certification within 48 hours, with a few exceptions.

Learn more with ISMS' Signing Death Certificates in Illinois Guideline*, a resource that provides detailed guidance on completing these medical certifications.
