Need to Obtain Licenses in Other States – in Addition to Illinois?

LicensureCompactIssueBrief

Whether you practice telemedicine in other states or want to more easily expand your practice beyond Illinois’ border, the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact can “fast track” your licensure process.

The Compact makes it possible for eligible physicians to obtain expedited medical licenses in other participating states – currently 30 in addition to Illinois. (Our state joined the Compact in 2017.)

The streamlined process is achieved by reducing the repetitive nature of licensure in each state. Participating states grant licenses to physicians based on information already obtained and verified for the physician’s primary license.

The result? Much less paperwork and greatly reduced wait times for application review and approval!

Learn more with ISMS’ updated Issue Brief*, which provides a comprehensive overview of the Compact and outlines how physicians can apply for expedited medical licenses in other participating states.

If you have questions, please contact our advocacy team by calling 800-782-4767 ext. 1470, or by sending an email.
