ISMS Resource Explains the 2021 Rules for Medicare’s Quality Payment Program
Posted on: 3/26/2021

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to have an impact on the ongoing implementation of the Quality Payment Program (QPP).

During the 2020 performance year, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) made accommodations and adjustments to the program to help reduce the reporting burden on physician practices, and minimize the impact of potential negative payment adjustments in future years. As the calendar flipped over to the new year, and in recognition of the ongoing effects of the pandemic on physician practices, the final rule regarding 2021 QPP implementation reflects fewer changes in the program than CMS originally anticipated.

To learn more about the rules that CMS announced for 2021, access ISMS’ newly updated Issue Brief, Medicare Quality Payment Program for 2021. The resource includes five notable updates for this year pertaining to the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and updated rules to the QPP. We summarized all of the notable information related to this year’s changes to save time for you and your staff.
