Students, Residents Report Defensive Medicine Woven into Training
Research conclusions, published in the February 2012 edition of Academic Medicine, state that medical students and residents reported frequent encounters with defensive medicine practices and were often taught to take medical liability into consideration during clinic decision making. In other words, fear of lawsuits seems to have infiltrated physician training. Ouch.
